SF Street Food Festival
August 15 & 16
Event Times Vary
Scoot over, Anthony Bourdain. Food can’t get more homegrown (or delish) than at this notoriously loved-by-locals, two-day food party that supports and showcases the city’s small-time food entrepreneurs. Imagine 50,000 people just as ravenous as you are, balancing handfuls of carne asada fries, beef pho rolls, pupusas and smoked salmon reubens.
The 100 food vendors range from mom-and-pop eateries, including Nepalese cuisine from Bini’s Kitchen and Guanajuatan specialities at El Pipila, to upscale restaurants like Jardiniere. This year, the festival moves to their new location at Pier 70, after quickly outgrowing their ad hoc block party in the Mission District. Also a new perk this year, you no longer have to down your booze in those embarrassing ‘drinking pens,’ so expect to cruise around and feast with a craft beer in hand.
